The Democrats are the Boomers of politics, especially after this election.

Bear with me here.  The phrase “OK Boomer” fits here when slightly modified to “OK Democrat.”

We hear every day from younger folks that Boomers are the cause of the many issues Generation Z and Millennials face.  Boomers are blamed for the state of the economy, the attitudes of corporate America, driving up the prices of housing and university attendance, and generally all things Generation Z and the Millennials do not like about America.

The same logic can be applied to the post-election Democrat Party.  Like Boomers, Democrats are seen as snobbish and entitled.  They want “free” health care (paid for by the taxpayer of course).  They want student loan relief (paid for the by the taxpayer of course).  They want open border immigration (with the immigrants paid for by the taxpayer of course). Remember Representative Pelosi’s famous quote “The Fact Is, a Wall Is an Immorality. It’s Not Who We Are as a Nation”. They want many citizens (and non- citizens) to have the life they want now, not the life they have earned (all paid for by the taxpayer of course).  They maintain the thought that hard work and dedication to one’s employer are outdated and employers should be happy with what the employees “feel like” doing.  They believe that all employees, no matter the job should be paid a “living wage”, even for jobs that were never meant to support a family.

All of these entitled attitudes were brought to you by Democrats and before the election, if you didn’t swallow it all, hook, line, and sinker, you were decried as evil and made the subject of derision.

The Democrats for the last 4 years concentrated on things that it seems the American people did not care about, including open borders and transsexual issues.  They also fumbled the issue of the withdrawal from Afghanistan and failed in preventing the Russian invasion of Ukraine.  The previous administration also failed to respond to the October 2023 attack on Israel by Hamas.  The latter two incidents were enabled by the US’ chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.  The Russians and Hamas simply did not fear US retaliation.

Now, after the most ringing defeat in modern electoral history, they have not yet learned that their message is not selling.  They have not changed their playbook, and now they have a different problem.

During President Trump’s recent address to a joint session of Congress he came out swinging.  Whether you like everything he is doing or not (I do not), no one can deny he is making good on his campaign promises.  He has consistently delivered to his base, making his supporters happy and infuriating detractors at the same time.  I have seen many addresses by Presidents to joint sessions of Congress, usually in the form of a State of the Union address.  While this address was not exactly a State of the Union speech, it used a similar format.

The fireworks started early with many Democrats refusing to rise for the arrival of the First Lady.  This was rude by any standard, petty, immature, and childish to boot.

Once the speech began, I expected a significant response from Democrats as they expressed their dissatisfaction of President Trump’s policies and programs.  One Democrat did not disappoint.  Representative Al Green of Texas stood up, shook his cane at the President and screamed at him saying “You have no mandate to cut healthcare” or words to that effect. While I found this outburst in bad taste and an egregious breach of decorum, I applaud him for at least having the backbone to stand up for his beliefs even though I disagree.  There were other protests, some more substantive than others.  While President Trump was outlining his plans to curtail government spending by streamlining federal agencies Several Democrat Representatives led by Jasmine Crockett of Texas and Maxwell Frost walked out.  Crockett removed her jacket revealing a shirt emblazoned with the word “Resist” and Frost wore one that said “No Kings Live Here”.  While less substantive than Green’s outburst, these gestures showed far more backbone than the token responses from the other Democrats in the chamber.

Their response was to raise paddles similar to the ones used for bidding at auction.  I really wish I was making this up.  The signs projected a variety of messages including “Musk Steals”, “Protect Veterans”, “Save Medicaid”, and “False”.  This was their strategy and it was so laughable it was painful to watch.  Some super liberal commentators and late night hosts bashing the attempt.  Stephen Colbert, arguably the most liberal late night host in America openly mocked the paddles with one of his own.  His message was “Try Doing Something”.

The speech had the usual feel good gestures to Americans who, for one reason or another, stand out.  These included among others:

  • The family of Mr. Corey Comperatore, killed protecting his family during the assignation attempt on President Trump.
  • Miss Payton McNabb – a volleyball player permanently injured in a volleyball game when struck in the face by a ball spiked by a transgender (biological male) player, ending her sports career.
  • Mrs. Allyson and Miss Lauren Phillips, sister and mother of Miss Laken Riley (deceased) murdered by an illegal alien.
  • Ms. Alexis Nungaray, whose 12 year old daughter, Jocelyn, was murdered by two illegal  aliens.
  • Agent Roberto Ortiz, the Border Patrol Agent who engaged cartel members on the Rio Grande River after they opened fire on him and his partner – saving his partner’s life.
  • Mr. D.J. Daniel, a 13 year old pediatric brain cancer survivor, who was made an honorary member of the Secret Service in recognition of his life-long desire to become a law enforcement officer.

The Democrats present, rather than rising with the rest of the audience to applaud these every day Americans, sat sullenly in their seats like spoiled brats or like disgruntled Boomers.

It was a sad day for the Democrats and showed that they lack leadership, cohesion, and a plan.  They sat there like tone-deaf curmudgeons unable to do anything but fume that things are not going their way.

OK Democrat, if you carry on as you are, with no plan and no alternatives; the beatings will continue until morale improves.  I suggest you do a deep dive and really look at yourselves if you want to have a chance at influencing the American political landscape.
